Update 1.1 brings Halloween to ROLLA today, adding new level and game mode to the Katamari Damacy meets Carrion hybrid

From Press Release:

BREAKING NEWS!! This is Kelly from Pantaloon bringing you the latest and greatest from the Pantaloon news desk. This is News at 9.

Todays major headline: It’s Halloween! and we’ve got TRICKS & TREATS…and atomic fallout.

ROLLA’s 1.1 Update is live now, serving up a brand new level and game mode, gameplay improvements, and a fresh start for the leaderboards. More grabbing, more growing, ZERO table manners. Rude.

EAT LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. IT DOES.

The nuclear clock is ticking in Atomic Time Attack, and the only way to keep rolling is to keep eating. Every human consumed adds precious seconds to the countdown, turning the hunt for your next meal into a race against time.

Be fast, be creative, and stay hungry. The new mode is accessible straight from the main menu, with no progression required to unlock it.

MORE TENDRILS. MORE TROUBLE.

Alongside Atomic Time Attack, we’ve been listening to player feedback and making a few adjustments:

  • A helping tendril: A small tendril now highlights humans within grabbing range.
  • Bigger monster, bigger handfuls: Start with one grabbing tendril and snatch more humans at once as ROLLA grows.
  • A more balanced rampage: Reworked enemy waves and spawning, bigger growth boosts from humans, and improved pacing, particularly in the opening levels.
  • Fewer interruptions to dinner: Fixes for getting stuck after airstrikes and out-of-bounds spawning in Blood And Highway.
  • The leaderboards have also been reset to reflect the revised gameplay and balancing. Completed goals, achievements and Rolladex progress are all preserved.

THE MONSTER’S BEEN BUSY

This major update follows a run of updates also shaped by player feedback. If you haven’t rolled through Downtown since launch, here’s what else has changed:

  • Switch between dynamic and isometric camera modes, with zoom controls in isometric view for a wider look at the carnage.
  • Custom keyboard bindings let you set up your preferred controls.
  • Check objectives from the pause menu, track collected R-O-L-L-A letters, and spot the remaining letters more easily.
  • Brighter lighting in Blood Highway makes enemy bullets easier to spot. Dodging them remains your problem.
  • Improvements to grabbing, enemy behaviour, power-up spawning and pause menu controls, alongside a little extra yellow for the Mellow Yellow skin.

Combined with 1.1’s revised growth, enemy waves and pacing, there’s plenty to sink your tendrils into – whether you’re returning for another rampage or meeting ROLLA for the first time.

MEETING THE MONSTER FOR THE FIRST TIME?

ROLLA is an arcade-horror game about a giant ball of flesh with an appetite for destruction. Roll, eat and grow your way through the carnage, consuming everything you can as you chase ever more ridiculous scores.
