Classic real-time strategy series Empire Earth comes to Steam for the first time today

From Press Release:

OXFORD (May 22, 2026) – Rebellion, one of the world’s most successful independent video game developers and publishers, has today announced that the classic real-time strategy series, Empire Earth, is now available on Steam for the first time ever. https://store.steampowered.com/app/254760/Empire_Earth_Gold_Edition/

The Empire Earth series allows you to advance a fledgling civilization through the course of history, as you build an empire capable of dominating the Earth. From humble beginnings you must carefully use natural resources if you want to prosper. As you progress through time you’ll uncover new technologies, buildings and weapons – but be warned, advancement doesn’t necessarily mean success. Your civilization might flourish in one epoch only to become history in the next.

Originally launched in 2001, during the golden age of real-time strategy games, Empire Earth became an instant hit within the genre. It was also one of the fastest selling strategy games of the time, with over 2 million copies sold by the time Empire Earth II was released in 2005. The final entry, Empire Earth III followed in 2007.

Key Features

In Empire Earth: Gold Edition, conquer 5,000 years of history across seven single-player campaigns. Take to battle using land, sea and air with more than 200 different units that span 15 epochs, from the Prehistoric to the Space Age. Choose any point in time – from the discovery of fire to the laser battles of the far-flung future – and command your civilization with one goal: make Earth your Empire.

Along with new campaigns, an extended timespan of 10,000 years of history and an expanded unit roster featuring 500 unique units, Empire Earth II: Gold Edition refines the series’ time-spanning gameplay with a host of new features. Key updates include improved AI, picture-in-picture control and dynamic weather, along with many other additions.

Empire Earth III innovated further with its World Domination mode. This divided the world into provinces that you can conquer in any order, allowing you to take your empire from fledgling kingdom to dominant superpower as you battle over a realistically rendered planet Earth.

All entries include the full single player campaigns, with multiplayer for up to eight players available via LAN.

Editions

Both Empire Earth & Empire Earth II are available in their Gold Editions, which include the original titles along with each game’s official expansion pack (The Art of Conquest & The Art of Supremacy respectively). Fans of the entire series will also be able to pick up all entries in one bundle with The Empire Earth Collection, which includes Empire Earth: Gold Edition, Empire Earth II: Gold Edition and Empire Earth III.
