War of the Roses “Kingmaker Edition” announced, Brian Blessed will narrate the game

Feb 01, 2013

Paradox Interactive, a publisher of games and a seeker of the throne, and Fatshark, valiant knights trapped in the modern era, today announced War of the Roses: Kingmaker, a gold edition of the game which allows aspiring knights a clear path to the throne by including all the top-notch weapons, armor, and perks that have been released since the title’s inception in October 2012. The new edition will be available in late Q1 2013.

In War of the Roses: Kingmaker, loyalists to the house of York or Lancaster will now have access to the content available since release, including the previously exclusive armor sets for both the red and white rose. Kingmaker will also introduce two new game modes—Assault and Assault Castle—where knights will face new attack and defense scenarios that aim to truly test their skill as a team.

A free trial version of War of the Roses is also planned for release February 6, which will allow anyone to download and play the game without cost. The trial version will include access to all online battles, enabling aspiring warriors to fight alongside all existing players – paid or trial. The trial version will limit players by disallowing any unlocks, giving access only to the game’s base classes and weapons, giving trial players a chance to live true knighthood.

In addition, Paradox will soon release a new premium DLC for War of the Roses, starring famously boisterous British actor BRIAN BLESSED as a new narrator for the game. Blessed’s booming voice will inspire knights by announcing in-game events and warnings, giving new meaning to the iconic command to “Kill the enemy!”

On top of all of these new editions, all versions of War of the Roses are scheduled to receive new content in the form of the new “Outside the Law” update, which will add an all new deep forest map to the game’s selection, along with armor pieces Robin of Loxley would be proud of.

Paradox Interactive will be streaming War of the Roses today at 4 p.m. GMT (8 a.m. PST) during its convention being held in Reykjavik, Iceland. Special guests NorthernLion, RageGaming, and Angry Joe, along with Executive Producer Gordon Van Dyke, and others, will narrate the action as attendees will be engrossed in a tournament to the death. To check out the mayhem, please visit the official Paradox Interactive channel on TwitchTV at www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive.

Magrunner has a charming, beautiful look in latest screenshots, and reveals details of the game

Jan 31, 2013

Developed on Unreal Engine 3 by 3AM (Frogwares), Magrunner is an action/reflection game for PC, PlayStation Network, and Xbox LIVE based on the use of physics and magnetism. Magrunner sends us to the near future, where technology will confront the Cthulhu Mythos as imagined by the renowned author of fantasy novels H. P. Lovecraft.

The game’s story begins in 2050 and takes place in a big sports competition broadcast through the entire world, intended to promote a new technology based on magnetism.

The 8 participants’ objective is to finish first in a huge race made up of many challenge rooms, each one bigger and more complex than the last. Each of them has a special glove that interacts with the new magnetic technology and enables them to journey through more and more spectacular rooms by charging various objects and elements of the environment with magnetic forces that attract or repel other objects.

However, the competition soon turns into a real nightmare. A power outage and what feels like an earthquake isolates the competitors from the rest of the world. Their only hope is to finish the course and attempt to contact the exterior world. But the challenge rooms that separate them from the finish grow more and more menacing and a long descent into hell awaits them. At the end of the tunnel lies a frightening secret that could threaten all of humanity. Today’s screenshots show all this, from the modern and sleek-looking challenge rooms at the beginning to the darker and more troubling areas that follow.

Prison Architect Alpha 6 is released

Jan 30, 2013

Alpha 6 introduces prisoner risk categories with coloured uniforms to reflect this. Prisoners now have a criminal history and are classified according to perceived risk, however this is an ESTIMATE and may not be accurate – you’ll still need to keep a close eye on the little darlings! They’ve also adjusted the prisoner intake settings to allow even more customization of the game.

All prisoners now have an estimated risk category – minimum, normal, or maximum security. This is reflected with different coloured uniforms so you can see immediately whether you have a pussy-cat or a Bane on your hands. It’s a little more complicated than that, so make sure you read their blog.

Dungeonland is Now Open for Business (Now Available for Purchase)

Jan 29, 2013

Paradox Interactive, a publisher of games and consumer of funnel cake, and Critical Studio, the lamented minions of Dungeon Maestro, today announced that Dungeonland has opened its doors to easily lured heroes everywhere. Available today for PC via digital distributors worldwide, Dungeonland can be purchased, downloaded, played, and quickly lost over and over again by soft, fleshy adventurers to their heart’s content. Dungeonlandcosts merely $9.99 plus the lives of your co-op partners.

“I can’t tell you how pleased I am to finally welcome the world to Dungeonland,” said the Dungeon Maestro, Director of Scheming at Paradox Interactive. “This represents a bold step forward not just for my glorious plans, but for the evil industry as a whole. Opening day is just the beginning, as well; today PC heroes can ‘enjoy’ their visits, but soon I’ll be able to lure MacOS heroes to my park as well! Better still, there’s a whole new section we’re going to open shortly, called Infinite Dungeon! We tell the heroes it’s the best challenge we have, where the fights just get harder and harder until they die – and the idiots line right up to try it!

“They always die, and they go in anyway!” added the Maestro. “Ha! Ha ha ha! HAHAHAHAHA!”

Dungeonland is the creation of the cunning Dungeon Maestro, who has invited the world’s pesky heroes to an adventurer’s theme park of his own design. Inside the colorful park, up to three players can play cooperatively to slaughter the monstrous staff and collect glittering piles of loot in fast-paced action gameplay. Meanwhile, a fourth player can take on the role of the Maestro himself, controlling the park’s traps and creatures, attempting to kill the other players, and mashing the “evil laugh” button as often as they can. A new trailer for Dungeonland is available today to demonstrate the virtues of teamwork, and the much better virtues of hero-slaughter.
