Edge of Space brings new features and wants to be Steam Greenlit

Jan 10, 2013

Happy New Year, ArkCoNauts! Come celebrate 2013 with Edge of Space, the 2D sandbox title that recruits players to join spacefaring organization ArkCo, and journey onto an intrepid adventure to the cusp of the galaxy. Edge of Space is changing rapidly with each new patch, introducing new features that challenge and inspire players to creatively terraform a planet. Even Terrerria developer Andrew Spinks is talking about it! Read up on all of these new updates for Edge of Space below:

  • Power Supply – A car won’t run if it doesn’t have any gas, and the same applies to the tools and items of Edge of Space. Via a simple drag-and-drop system, ArkCoNauts will need to run electrical cables from generators to power their creations, everything from light sources to factories. It’s a simple system with a vast array of uses, and players will be rewarded for clever design and creativity as they build and power their extra planetary base.
  • Crafting – As players explore the planets of Edge of Space, they will mine and collect minerals and other resources. Thanks to Edge of Space’s flexible crafting system, players will transform minerals into various usable resources to create weapons, armor, generators, storage, decorations, and more. Of course, they’ll need the collectable schematics – blueprints that facilitate the creation of these varied items. These are found on enemies and through exploration, and function as a reward for dedicated play.
  • Armor – While all ArkCoNauts are granted standard issue space armor, sartorially-inclined players will be quick to deck their character out with distinct armor that helps their ArkCoNaut stand out from the rest of the pack. Perfect for multiplayer sessions, armor can be created or earned, and will soon provide gameplay assistance through stat boosts.

These new features have rapidly changed the way players can explore and transform the planets they discover. Edge of Space is an open-world, dynamically-generated sandbox game set in an area of deep space where humans have never wanted or were ever meant to travel. The entire game was built from the ground-up with multiplayer in mind, and the reactive environments ensure that all activities (crafting, building, setting traps, healing, etc.) are fast-paced and intense.

Edge of Space can be purchased at Desura and RainDGEdge of Space has been submitted to Valve’s Steam Greenlight Project (steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92913728 ), enabling members of the Steam community to vote for games that they’d like to see available on the service. First Teaser Trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 surfaces, shows off a Cyber-Rampage

Jan 10, 2013

“The teaser shows how the Psycho Squad might acquire a new member. The Psycho Squad specializes in combating “psychos” – individuals who overuse implants and substances that boost or otherwise alter the human body. There comes a point when they overdose on these innovations, and their bodies start to rebel against their biological body parts as well as against all things organic around them. Simply put, they start killing people, who they now derisively call ‘meatbags.’

When a psycho goes on the rampage, strange things can happen. There’s going to be a lot of carnage, so the psycho might be taken down by regular police, but they’re not always able to get the job done. When things spin out of control, they call in MAX-TAC (Maximum Force Tactical Division), popularly called the ‘Psycho Squad’. And these guys are exceptional, these guys are crack troops. The fact that they’re proud of that name tells you a bit about their mindset. They wear a badge with their official emblem on their right sleeve, but their left is reserved for their unofficial Psycho Squad emblem. It’s primitively made and the image itself is on the crude side of things. It’s not unlike a badge special force operators might make and wear to distinguish themselves from the ranks of grunts in any theatre of war,” says Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt RED studio.

En Masse Entertainment offers a F2P Option for TERA

Jan 09, 2013

En Masse Entertainment™, a player-driven publisher focused on delivering fun and innovative online games, today announced that its award-winning action MMO, TERA™, will be available without a subscription starting in February, giving players flexibility on how they want to enjoy the game. TERA: Rising requires no upfront payment, and provides an in-game store as well as elite status options for players who wish to customize their experience. New players will enjoy standard status with no level cap or content restrictions, while past and current subscribers will receive permanent founder status with exclusive privileges. Any player may opt to purchase elite status, which confers a wealth of benefits, in 30-day increments.

To celebrate this next chapter of TERA, En Masse Entertainment will be launching new in-game content, including a wave-based dungeon and a PvP battleground map that introduces a new way for players to test their skills against each other. The multi-stage Crucible of Flame dungeon challenges players with a series of epic, high-level battles culminating with a new boss fight against the immense Cyclops. This dungeon offers varying rewards based on performance. Additionally, more competitive players can take off in Champions’ Skyring, an all-new three-versus-three PvP battleground with some of TERA’s best PvP gear at stake.

“With TERA: Rising, we created a fresh, action-oriented play style that is centered around allowing players to take control of their actions on the battlefield,” said Chris Lee, CEO of En Masse Entertainment. “We feel the time has come to offer the same level of control in how they invest in the world of TERA, so we are offering a tiered approach that includes a compelling free option, to accessing the game.”

Standard players will have full access to TERA’s wealth of in-game content with two free characters per server. They are not subject to level caps and will experience no restrictions to content, time, or level. In recognition of their early adoption to the game, players who purchased TERA will gain founder benefits, including eight character slots, four bank tabs, a “Founder” title, the exclusive Terminus mount, and much more.

Available in 30-day increments for $14.99, elite status grants players extra dungeon rewards, 10 bonus quests per day, a daily delivery of items and boosts, an elite mount, in-game store discounts, waived brokerage registration taxes, and more. Elite players will find that their status pays for itself through free items and discounts, let alone in-game perks.

While non-elite players will not benefit from the same perks as their Elite counterparts, they will experience game content, character growth, holding political office, and other in-game determinations of status and power exactly the same way all players have since the game launched. They can also choose to buy most items available to elite status players on an a la carte basis from the in-game store or trade broker.

The recipient of multiple industry accolades, including “Best PC Game” and “Best MMO” at E3, TERA gives players the best of both worlds: MMO depth delivered with the visceral gratification of an action game. In TERA, players actively aim, dodge, and block, as the game’s real-time combat system takes into account player skill and position as well as stats. Players join in an alliance to save the world from ravaging armies who threaten to destroy the very gods who hold it together. Players can also participate in the game’s forward-thinking political system, through which they wield power based on their in-game political prowess or PvP combat skill.

The first Call of Duty: Black Ops II DLC is called “Revolution”, Coming to Xbox Live exclusively on January 29th

Jan 08, 2013

Fresh on the heels of the biggest entertainment launch of 2012 – Call of Duty®: Black Ops II, Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq: ATVI), and their award-winning development studio Treyarch are kicking-off 2013 with the announcement ofRevolution, the first massive Downloadable Content (DLC) Pack for the record-setting game. Since the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, millions of fans have taken-on the game’s ambitious near-future fiction, engaged in over 427 million hours of near-future warfare in non-stop multiplayer action, and survived hordes of Zombies. Set to launch January 29 first, exclusively on Xbox LIVE® for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft with other platforms to follow, Revolutiondelivers an unprecedented level of content, and for the first time in Call of Duty® DLC history, a new bonus multiplayer weapon.

“With Black Ops II, the team set out to challenge assumptions about what fans should expect from Call of Duty, and there’s no exception with Revolution,” said Mark Lamia, Treyarch’s Studio Head. “It starts with the massive amount of content that Revolutionoffers: four distinct multiplayer maps, an entirely new Zombies map and new Zombies mode, and a new bonus weapon. But quantity is just the start – it’s the variety of new gameplay options in Revolution that sets it apart, making it our most compelling DLC offering to date, and a must-play experience for Call of Duty fans.”

Revolution takes players to unexpected new locales the world over. “Downhill” is set in the ski country of the French Alps, where players fight their way down the slopes and through a ski lodge, while avoiding the moving hazards of the mountain’s gondola system. Opponents must dodge the floodwaters in “Hydro” as they contend for dominance of this hydroelectric dam facility in Pakistan, filled with treacherous spillways. “Mirage” pits players in competition amidst the sand dunes of a dilapidated luxury resort in the sandstorm-devastated Gobi Desert, where a range of long-distance and close-quarters combat will mix up the action for all play styles. Finally, “Grind” transports players to the historic birthplace of skateboarding, California’s Venice Beach, where they will battle it out through the ramps and half-pipes of this massive, epic skate park in a multiplayer environment comprised of unique curved architecture requiring players to adapt and learn new ways to take cover. Each map in Revolutiondelivers a uniquely exhilarating new landscape for tactics and battle.
