From Press Release:
July 18th, 2024 – Developer Mithril Interactive is thrilled to announce that Dungeonborne, the eagerly awaited PvPvE extraction RPG, launches into Early Access on Steam today. Following a series of successful playtests and becoming the most played game during the February Steam Next Fest this year, Dungeonborne is ready to welcome adventurers seeking fame, fortune, and perilous challenges.
Strategize, Prepare, Execute
Dungeonborne is a first-person dungeon-crawler that blends elements of tactical extraction shooters and battle royale games within a dark fantasy setting. Adventurers brave enough to forge their legend can now venture into castles of old and face the dangers alone or team up with up to two friends.
The game’s combat system is both fluid and multifaceted, featuring special moves like gap closers and perfect blocks, as well as environmental factors that players can utilise such as vantage points and trap locations. With high stakes where defeat means losing everything, success in Dungeonborne demands tactical decision-making, strategic use of player classes, and mastery of the game’s deep combat systems.
An Array of Playable Classes Await
Dungeonborne launches into Early Access with eight distinct player classes: Fighter, Priest, Rogue, Swordmaster, Pyromancer, Cryomancer, Death Knight, and the recently introduced Druid. Each class boasts a unique spell and ability kit, allowing for diverse play styles and strategies.
Death Knights are masters of manipulation, capable of pulling enemies toward them and draining their life force. Druids on the other hand can attack from any range and shapeshift into animal form to rip and tear.
Caster classes dispense destruction from afar. The Pyromancer can scorch and burn all who stand against them, and the Cryomancer can harness the power of ice to freeze and slow all foes. Players looking to take on more of a support role will find the Priest class particularly fitting as they can heal teammates and support them from afar, bolstering their defence and keeping them alive.
There are multiple classes for fans of melee combat, too. The Fighter is designed to protect their allies, capable of holding the line against their foes as the Rogue sneaks behind opponents to unleash devastating critical strikes. Swordmaster on the other hand captivates enemies’ attention as they conjure powerful psionic blades to sow quick death among the enemy ranks.
With over 10 unique weapon pairings, every duel in Dungeonborne becomes a dance of death that brings a fluid, back-and-forth action combat experience
Acquire Powerful Loot & Upgrades
Over 80 individual items await in Dungeonborne, capable of synergizing with one another or completely changing the way a class plays. As players collect more loot, they can choose to further upgrade it or sell it on the in-game auction house for profit that they can then further invest into increasing their power.
Additionally, dozens of legendary and unique items await in treasure troves and dark dungeons, offering pinnacle pursuits as adventurers will aim to collect and combine, crafting the perfect build. As heroes embark on their individual adventures, both seasoned veterans and players new to the genre will find that loot is plentiful in Dungeonborne, but one must be willing to fight for it.
Early Access: A Crucible of Innovation
Since its official reveal earlier this year, Dungeonborne has seen multiple public playtests allowing players to hop in and experience the game for themselves, all the while providing valuable feedback to the team at Mithril Interactive who have continued improving gameplay and connectivity.
Based on extensive player feedback from the latest playtest, Mithril Interactive have implemented significant improvements for the Early Access launch, including:
- A new multi-skill system offering expanded options for each class
- New active skills for Fighter, Death Knight, Rogue, Cryomancer, and Priest
- Comprehensive class and weapon balance adjustments
- Itemization improvements to enhance the gameplay experience
- PvE enhancements and matchmaking lobby improvements
- Client/server optimization
- Addition of a new South America server region
“The Early Access launch marks a pivotal moment in Dungeonborne‘s evolution,” said Elvis, Lead Producer at Mithril Interactive. “It’s an opportunity for us to continue refining and balancing the game alongside our passionate community. The improvements we’ve made based on playtest feedback are just the beginning. We’re committed to continuous development, ensuring Dungeonborne becomes the ultimate extraction RPG experience for both veterans and newcomers.”
Dungeonborne‘s Early Access launch on Steam offers an array of maps and game modes for players to explore. The game’s free-to-play model aims to build the largest possible player base, ensuring fair matchmaking and a thriving community. Mithril Interactive pledges to deliver regular updates and new content throughout the Early Access period, guided by community feedback and data-driven insights. The team is committed to maintaining a fair play environment with robust anti-cheat measures, while continuously expanding the game without compromising its core experience for non-paying players.
Dungeonborne is now available to download for free on PC via Steam Early Access. Players can purchase the ‘Mithril Edition’ DLC upgrade for $9.99USD (subject to regional pricing) granting players two cosmetic items to carry on their adventures, the Mithril Cloak and Mithril Torch.
