Dungeonborne’s August Update includes new 3v3 arena mode, new gear tier, and more for the extraction RPG

From Press Release:

August 16th, 2024 – Mithril Interactive is excited to announce a new game mode and more in their next update for their free-to-play extraction RPG Dungeonborne, currently in Steam Early Access. Launching today, the update brings a wealth of new features and improvements to enhance the player experience.

Clotho’s Trial: A New Arena Challenge

The centrepiece of the update is “Clotho’s Trial,” an intense new PvP mode running from August 16th to September 16th. This 3v3, round-based best-of-seven format pushes players to their limits, offering exclusive rewards for those who achieve the coveted “Flawless” title. To participate, players must purchase a Clotho Runestone and can battle during specific challenge times every weekend throughout the event period. The mode provides basic Epic-quality equipment, but players can also bring their own gear.

Each best-of-seven match consists of up to 7 rounds of 3v3 arena battles, with the first team to win 4 rounds claiming victory. Participants can earn an exclusive killing effect and legendary gear for achieving their first “Flawless” rating (completing a trial without losing). Additional prizes await top performers at the event’s conclusion, with the top 50 players receiving exclusive rewards based on their number of Flawless ratings.

Expanding the Gear Spectrum

In a move to increase build variety and player customization options, Mithril Interactive is also introducing the “Exceptional” gear rarity. This new tier bridges the gap between Epic and Legendary items, offering players more nuanced choices in their equipment selection. Exceptional gear provides enhanced stats and unique properties, allowing for more diverse and specialised character builds. This addition is expected to shake up the meta and encourage players to experiment with new strategies and playstyles.

Class Updates and Nature-Themed Event

Druid players can look forward to the introduction of a new “Healing” skill, focusing on sustained healing over time (HoT) effects. This skill differentiates itself from the Priest’s more immediate healing abilities, providing Druids with a unique role in team compositions. The new ability allows Druids to offer stronger sustained healing for their team, opening up fresh tactical options and potentially shifting the dynamics of both PvE and PvP encounters.

Adding to the excitement, a time-limited “Nature Constellation” themed event kicks off alongside this update. Players can participate in special challenges and quests centred around natural elements and druidic themes. After completing all quests during the Nature Constellation event, players can obtain the exclusive “Mask of the Nature Spirit” helmet appearance.

Aesthetic Enhancements

The update also introduces the second part of the Skeleton Sets to the in-game shop. These new weapon and armour skins allow players to transform into the fearsome “Chosen of Terror.” The set promises to deliver a visually striking experience, combining intricate bone motifs with an aura of dread. You can watch the teaser here.

Players will also be able to claim a free DLC ‘Resurrection Stone Gift Pack’ that will allow them to obtain an exclusive cloak appearance ‘Resurrection Stone’ and other supplies that will be useful on their adventures.

“This update represents our commitment to continuously evolving Dungeonborne based on player feedback and our creative vision,” said Elvis, Lead Producer at Mithril Interactive. “Clotho’s Trial, in particular, offers a new competitive avenue for our most dedicated players, while the gear and class updates provide fresh experiences for all.”

Dungeonborne‘s update is now live and free for all players on Steam. The development team encourages players to dive in, experience the new content, and continue providing valuable feedback to shape the game’s future.
