17th September, 2026 – KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS today confirmed that Bill Skarsgård will portray the lead role in PHYSINT as well as unveiled a new poster featuring Skarsgård and Charlee Fraser. The studio also recently confirmed that PHYSINT will have a new publishing partner, XBOX. Both companies are already collaborating successfully on OD – KNOCK and adding PHYSINT further strengthens their relationship and shared commitment to building great games together. Both KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS and XBOX are excited about this collaboration and are looking forward to bringing PHYSINT to players worldwide.

The costume fittings, scans, and camera tests we conducted with Bill and Charlee earlier this year gave me tremendous confidence in the direction of the project.”

Bill Skarsgård
Bill Skarsgård is a Swedish actor and producer.
Most recently, he received rave reviews for his performance in Gus Van Sant’s Dead Man’s Wire (2026). He next stars in Peter Bergs’s The Mosquito Bowl and Andrew Niccol’s Lords of War opposite Nicolas Cage. Earlier this year he co-starred in The Death of Robin Hood (Michael Sarnoski, 2026) with Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer.
Skarsgård gained international recognition for his portrayal of the iconic clown Pennywise in It (Andy Muschietti, 2017), a role he reprised in It: Chapter Two (Andy Muschietti, 2019).
His film career spans titles such as Nosferatu (Robert Eggers, 2024), Barbarian (Zach Cregger, 2022), The Crow (Rupert Sanders, 2024), Atomic Blonde (David Leitch, 2017), John Wick: Chapter 4 (Chad Stahelski, 2023), The Devil All the Time (Antonio Campos, 2020) and Boy Kills World (Moritz Mohr, 2023).
On television, he recently starred in It: Welcome to Derry (2025), the It prequel series for HBO Max, in which he reprised the role of Pennywise and also served as executive producer. His television credits also include Clark (Jonas Åkerlund, 2022), Castle Rock (2018–2019), and Hemlock Grove (2013–2015).
Skarsgård joins the ensemble cast of PHYSINT, which was revealed during KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS’ 10th Anniversary event, “BEYOND THE STRAND”, held in Tokyo on 23rd September 2025. The cast features Charlee Fraser, previous KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS collaborator Don Lee as well as Minami Hamabe.
PHYSINT is the third original IP from KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS and has been described by Hideo Kojima as the culmination of his 40-year career as a video game creator. With the full support of XBOX, PHYSINT will use cutting-edge technology and a stellar cast to create a game experience like no other, with the aim of setting a new benchmark for the action-espionage genre.
