Gotham City Imposters is Now Free-To-Play on Steam

The Bats and Jokerz are running free! Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced that the PC version of Gotham City Impostors is now Free To Play.  The latest version of the game is now available for download at no cost via Steam® and is Steamworks enabled.

Those who download the Gotham City Impostors Free To Play via the Steam client will have access to the original game, as well as all DLC packs, which includes new maps, weapons, mascots and more. Players will also experience join-in-progress matchmaking that ensures gamers are placed into populated matches.

Developed by Monolith Productions and previously released for PC, Xbox 360^® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system in February 2012, Gotham City Impostors allows up to 12 players to battle for control of an unhinged Gotham City overrun by Impostors inspired by the DC Comics characters Batman and The Joker.
Players can engage in deliriously fast paced, uniquely vertical, and completely unconventional urban warfare where progress supports leveling up and access to a mind-boggling array of customization options. Unlock new Bats or Jokerz costumes and build your own specific loadout from a huge assortment of traditional and homebrew weaponry, equipment, and perks. Gadgets such as the Glider Rig, Grappling Hook, and Spring Boots give gamers unprecedented mobility options, while support items like the Bear Traps and Boomerang, open up new tactical options.

The game features eight maps and four modes inspired by the DC Comics’ Batman license.  The maps include 25^th Floor, Ace Chemical, Amusement Mile, Arkham Asylum, Crime Alley, The Docks, East End, and Gotham Power.  Gamers can choose from several gameplay modes – Team Deathmatch, Fumigation, Bounty Hunter or Psych Warfare modes – and engage in all-out combat, or they can choose the Challenges mode, a single-player mode that allows players to safely explore the different maps and practice using different weapons, support items and gadgets.

Dead Island Riptide is Drowning in Hope

Deep Silver today revealed the first details about the next installment in the Dead Island™ franchise, coming to stores in 2013.

Having survived the ordeals of the zombie infestation on the once beautiful island resort of Banoi, our group of survivors thought they had finally found a safe place to escape from this terrifying nightmare. But they were wrong. Shortly after the battle-hardened team had landed their helicopter on a military ship, a furious storm hits and havoc quickly spreads on board. Suddenly they find themselves struggling for their lives again with all hope drowning in the rising waves.

With invigorating new elements infused into a proven mix, Dead Island Riptide will reanimate the zombie terror in the original game. A monsoon has hit the once beautiful archipelago and heavy rainstorms have laid waste to large areas of the islands. The city of Henderson and jungle areas on the island of Palanai were flooded leaving boats as the only remaining way of transportation. Dynamic weather conditions will force the team members to adapt to changing visibility conditions.

A fifth character will join the team, with an all-new and unique skillset. The combined skills of the group will be sorely needed, since terrible, new and unknown zombie mutations have emerged all over the island.

In new hub defense missions, the coop teamwork skills of the survivors will be tested to the limit – they need to strategically place traps, fences and turrets to fend off oncoming Zombie onslaughts and to protect the humans in these sanctuaries.

New communication features in coop mode also allow players to enjoy an even more intense and strategic team experience.

Developed by Techland, Dead Island Riptide will be released in 2013 for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and for Windows PC.

Sacred 3 officially announced by Deep Silver

Deep Silver today revealed the first details about the upcoming Action RPG Sacred 3, the next installment in the popular series set in the rich and detailed world of Sacred.

They say that whoever possesses the Heart of Ancaria will decide the fate of the world. Zane Ashen, ruler of the corrupt Ashen Empire, will do everything in his power to obtain the Heart; however, the Seraphim have hidden it away in a secure and secret place. Only when a group of heroes combine their powers to oppose Zane Ashen’s reign of terror does the world have a chance of escaping utter destruction.

Up to four players can join the battle against the Ashen Empire in a unique and engaging co-op mode in which they will not only fight against the Imperial aggressors but also compete between each other in friendly rivalry. Are they as skilled as their friends in the use of their character’s talents? Can they surpass their companions’ accomplishments in battle?

Players can choose between several character classes – the Safiri Warrior and Ancarian Lancer being just two of these options. Each of these classes offers a specific skill set – players must choose their Combat Arts, perks and equipment wisely in order to stand a chance against the Ashen Empire.

 The epic fight against Zane is set in a colorful and varied game world with rich mythology and diverse regions and climates. Many of the environments will be familiar from previous Sacred games, such as Castle Braverock, which now lies in ruins. Impressive bosses await the heroes along their journey – and fabled treasures, honor and experience are the reward for overcoming them!

Sacred 3 is an addictive action experience with accessible yet sophisticated gameplay.

Sacred 3 is in development at keen games and will be published for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC. It is planned for release in 2013.

Valve launches Steam Greenlight platform

Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the launch of Steam Greenlight, a new platform feature that enlists the community’s help in selecting some of the next games to be released on Steam.

Announced earlier this summer, Steam Greenlight allows developers and publishers to post information and media about their game in an effort to convince the Community that the game should be released on Steam. Greenlight piggybacks on Steam Workshop’s flexible system that organizes content and lets customers rate and leave feedback.

“We’ve been working on this feature for the last few months with the input from a group of indie partners, and the response has been extremely positive,” said Valve’s Anna Sweet. “With the additional help of beta testers, we are able to launch with a solid line-up of titles for the community to start viewing and rating. And, as we’ve done with all Steam features, we intend to continually grow and modify Greenlight as more and more developers and community members have a chance to get involved.”

Sniper Elite V2 Mutliplayer Modes are coming to Consoles

505 Games and Rebellion are set to bring full multiplayer support to the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system versions to World War II tactical shooter Sniper Elite V2.

The multi-player add-on content will be available this fall and will bring players the opportunity to take on an all sniping challenges in “Team Deathmatch,” “Deathmatch,” “Team Distance King” and “Distance King “modes, with up to eight players.

Today, 2K Sports released the screenshots of NBA legends appearing in NBA 2K13, including Allen Iverson of the 2000 – 2001 Philadelphia 76ers, who will be available for the first time as a historic player in the game. The screenshots also feature in-game highlights of Wilt Chamberlain of the Los Angeles Lakers , Shawn Kemp of the Seattle Supersonics, Shaquille O’Neal of the Orlando Magic, Alonzo Mourning of the Charlotte Hornets, and Scottie Pippen of the Chicago Bulls.

Women’s Olympic Ice Hockey Stars and New NHL Legends join roster for NHL 13

Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that for the first time ever in a professional league simulation sports video game, EA SPORTS NHL 13 has added female athletes as playable characters. Former Team USA superstar Angela Ruggiero will join former Team Canada great Hayley Wickenheiser, both four-time Olympic Ice Hockey medalists, as playable legends in NHL 13. NHL Hall of Famers Doug Gilmour, Jari Kurri, and NHL legend Dominik Hasek will also be added to the roster of legends which includes the likes of Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. The NHL 13 demo is available for download now via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. Promising the biggest year on year innovation to the franchise on this console generation, NHL 13 will be available on September 11, 2012 in North America and September 14, 2012 in Europe. 

The addition of women’s hockey legends as playable characters within the EA SPORTS NHL franchise is the continuation of a commitment that the development team made to create greater representation for women’s hockey beginning withNHL 12.

“With the release of NHL 12 we added generic female characters in our Be a Pro mode based on a request from a 14-yr old female fan who emailed our staff because she felt underrepresented as a hockey videogame fan,” said Dean Richards, General Manager, NHL, EA SPORTS. “This year we are very excited to continue our effort of creating a more representative experience for female hockey fans by adding two of the greatest female athletes to ever play the game in Wickenheiser and Ruggiero to NHL 13.”

“The EA SPORTS NHL franchise took a big step last year by including female characters to create a more inclusive experience for female hockey fans,” said Hayley Wickenheiser. “I’m excited to be a part of NHL 13 and hope that the addition of women’s hockey legends will encourage greater participation in hockey from young women everywhere.”

Legends Integration in NHL 13 

Legends in NHL 13 will be integrated across several modes:

• Be A Legend – gamers will experience the glory of playing their entire Be A Pro career as a legend as they attempt to shatter the most impressive records in hockey, achieve legendary milestones and complete legends tasks.

• Legends teams – Play as the legends team, Team Ruggiero or Team Wickenheiser, which are comprised of legends and current NHL greats in head-to-head play – within Play Now, Online and Battle for the Cup modes. Players on Team Ruggiero and Team Wickenheiser were selected by each athlete, respectively.

• Hockey Ultimate Team & Be a GM – Gamers will have the ability to add legends to any team roster in Be a GM mode, or collect ultra-rare legends cards and use them within their Hockey Ultimate Team experience.
