ROCCAT, the Hamburg-based manufacturer of professional gaming accessories, presents an addition to the legendary ROCCAT Sense High Precision Gaming Mousepad – one of the world’s most popular mousepads. The new ROCCAT Sense Chrome Blue features a revised surface, more intense colours and is just 2mm high. The special microcrystalline coating incorporated into the fabric surface is ultra-effective at minimizing frictional resistance between the mouse and the pad thereby noticeably improving the gliding capability of mice. At the same time there is hardly any noise: the mouse glides almost silently over the ROCCAT mousepad.
At 400x280mm, the mousepad is perfect for sweeping mouse movements. Gamers who prefer lower mouse speeds will love this mousepad. The rubberized coating of the whole of the underside ensures the mousepad sits perfectly and securely even on smooth surfaces. What’s more, thanks to its ultra-low height of just 2mm the difference between the desktop and mousepad is hardly noticeable to gamers – plus the mousepad remains very comfortable to use even after many hours.
“Since its launch, the Sense mousepad has performed extremely well in the market and now the time has come for an addition,” says René Korte, ROCCAT Founder and CEO. “Besides the improved contrast between colours and the new packaging, we’ve also revised the microcrystalline coating. The result: a really noticeable improvement in mouse gliding capabilities.”
The ROCCAT Sense Chrome Blue High Precision Gaming Mousepad will be available in the US in early fall for an MSRP of $19.99.

Microsoft and 343 Industries in conjunction with new soundtrack partner 7Hz Productions, today announced the “Halo 4” Original Soundtrack (OST) produced by composer Neil Davidge of Massive Attack fame will be available online and in stores on Oct. 22. The “Halo 4” Original Soundtrack, featuring 15 tracks and over 75 minutes of unique music, marks the first time a new composer has taken the reins for the iconic series’ musical score since the launch of the original “Halo” game more than a decade ago.
The “Halo 4” individually numbered and limited Special Edition 2-Disc Box Set will consist of the “Halo 4” Remix Album, produced by Davidge in tandem with fourteen of the world’s most renowned electronica producers and artists, including DJ Skee, Sander Van Doorn, Gui Boratto, Caspa, Apocalyptica, Hundred Waters, and more. A first for the “Halo” franchise, the landmark remix project is a premier example of a video game drawing from the breadth and caliber of talent in the electronica music world, breaking new ground for the blockbuster franchise that has sold over 43 million game copies worldwide and generated nearly $3 billion in revenue.
“It was an honor to compose and produce the ‘Halo 4’ score,” said Davidge. “I am so proud of the way the OST has turned out and to have had the opportunity to evolve the great legacy of ‘Halo’ music. To be able to then collaborate with these talented DJ’s and musicians on various remixes was a real bonus as it is always fun and interesting to see how others interpret and reimagine what you have created.”
Pushing the musical envelope, Davidge and his production company enlisted popular electronica producers DJ Skee, Caspa, Sander Van Doorn & Julian Jordan, Gui Boratto, KOAN Sound, Matt Lange, Andrew Bayer, Norin & Rad, Alvin Risk, Bobby Tank, Maor Levi and Hundred Waters, in addition to rock maestros Apocalyptica and ex-Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, to create a 14-track remix disk based on the Original Soundtrack (samples available on Halo Waypoint). When approached to work with Davidge, these artists not only took his work on the “Halo 4” score and shaped it into their own unique sound, but kept true to the roots and feel of the “Halo” franchise.
“I have been a fan of ‘Halo’ since day one, and when I heard Neil’s epic compositions for ‘Halo 4’ I was blown away,” said DJ Skee. “When we got the opportunity to remix and add our style, I wanted to create something just as epic that could stand alongside both the original composition and ‘Halo 4’ itself.”

I’ve been part of the GamrCred Invite-Only Beta (how elite, right?) for a week now and am fairly impressed. You’re able to pull in your Xbox Live, PSN, and Steam accounts for it scan for achievements. Then you can also hook-up your Youtube and Twitch accounts to help boost your score. Finally, you can tie them to social networks like Facebook and Twitter. All of it adds up soon enough. The more you talk about games on social media or via other systems, your ranking goes up.
Official Press Release:
We’re excited to announce GamrCred, the Ultimate Rank in Games, where your play, say and respect within your gaming communities combine to create the reputation rank to trump them all. Created by veterans of game-development powerhouse, BioWare, and social networking platform, Empire Avenue, GamrCred is aiming to become the standard across the web for measuring a gamer’s reputation. The site has launched in invite-only beta, and interested gamers are encouraged to sign up at http://gamrcred.com.
GamrCred will create the world’s greatest community of credible gamers. Our goal is to help you to not only find other gamers and learn, but also to find great games that others are playing or excited about. As avid gamers on console, PC, mobile and tablet, we also understand the issues of trying to identify great games that fit your interest and playing style. Hundreds of thousands of games on iTunes, the social web, console downloadables and more can make for an impossible list of great content to weed through, and every day a good game is likely being lost in the confusion. We believe we can help out by connecting you to gamers who you respect and whose opinions you can trust.
Today marks the start of an incredibly fun journey; a journey to build the most credible community of gamers in the world that can benefit from their reputation. We hope you join us and give us feedback so we can learn from you.
Here’s my Badge of Honor for GamrCred, just a little over halfway to the top:

CD Projekt RED, developers of The Witcher 2, started off this year’s gamescom with a bang, dominating the European Games Awards and then following up with a well-received presentation of the REDkit, the mod engine for their award-winning RPG.
“We have our own vision for RPGs: they should present an exciting story and give players lots of choices that really matter. The REDkit is designed to create adventures that way – mature, non-linear and engrossing stories set in vivid worlds filled with believable characters,” said head of the studio, Adam Badowski.
In the business section of gamescom, journalists were able to see the Witcher 2 toolset – REDkit. The editor allows modders to create adventures in the world of Geralt of Rivia. REDkit gives players the power to create detailed environments and complex, nonlinear quests as they tell their own Witcher story. Starting from today, modders from all over the world can apply for an early access to the REDkit by going to thewitcher.com/redkit before September 30th, 2012.
The REDkit is not the only project CD Projekt RED is working on. The studio is developing two triple-A RPGs: one is an as-yet unannounced game set in a dark fantasy world, and the other is the recently-announced Cybeprunk RPG. During gamescom CD Projekt RED was looking for talented people with the experience and drive to make the best games in the industry, offering relocation packages and assistance for foreigners willing to move to Warsaw, Poland. Interested parties should apply with a resume and cover letter to: careers@cdprojektred.com
The Witcher 2 for PC earned dozens of awards and continues to impress on Xbox 360. At the European Games Awards the Witcher 2 was nominated in 9 out of 22 categories and finally became the most awarded game during the European Games Awards ceremony. The Witcher 2 won 6 prizes: Best European Art Direction, Best European Game World, Best European Game Design, Best European Special Edition, Best European Character Design and, most gratifyingly, Best European Game.
Badowski continued, “The Witcher series is based upon the epic stories of Andrzej Sapkowski, and is inspired by the dark times of the Medieval era and the history of Europe. This inspiration gives the series its complex feel, and we’re thrilled that it has resonated with players all around the continent. I’m very happy to see that so many gamers supported us and that we won so many awards. Thanks to all our fans!”
