EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN has come to PC within the same year as the PlayStation 4 version, which is really fast for this series. What means, is more people get to experience what a weird yet wonderful game. EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN is on a separate timeline from a different developer, Yuke’s. EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it does enough different to separate itself from the numbered entries. In short, EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN has some technical issues and design decisions that hurt the overall experience.
The importance of the EARTH DEFENSE FORCE games having a presence on PC cannot be understated. While the PlayStation 4 versions have proven to not only be successful, but also very good, their performance has been a bit lacking. EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1 The Shadow of New Despair set the tone for what this series can do on PC, and conceivably introduced a whole new group of people to this series. And EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 5 is no different, offering 60fps in any resolution for b-movie schlock with blockbuster entertainment. “C’mon you apes, you wanna live forever?”
The Earth Defense Force series has dug itself into the B-Tier genre of games. It’s campy, it’s rough, it’s janky, and it’s buggy; quite literally. But for the fans of the series, each new release brings excitement and joy. It’s like those of us in the Dynasty Warriors camp who are excited for new releases, even if it’s their not the best. Just like Dynasty Warriors, D3 Publisher has kept the formula the same for many years. But with Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain developer Yuke’s was to take the series in new directions.
D3 PUBLISHER INC. (JPN) have announced , the Additional Mission Pack 1 : Time of The Mutantsfor EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1 The Shadow of New Despairis now available with a 20% launch discount.
There is only one other Earth Defense Force game has been on PC, EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1 The Shadow of New Despair is the one that gets it right: 1080p, 60fps, and even anti-aliasing. While the game itself isn’t a visual powerhouse, this is the best a Earth Defense Force game has ever looked. EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1 The Shadow of New Despair is also the best-playing game of the series – combine this with the ability to play cooperatively online with a friend, and you’ve got magic in the making. EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1 is not technically or visually impressive, but it makes a case for unadulterated fun being core to a game experience over the latter.
