The first DLC for Prey is a surprise, because not only is it an expansion, but one that has a twist you wouldn’t expect out of Bethesda or Arkane. Titled, “Mooncrash” this is an infinitely replayable DLC – akin to roguelikes, but done in that very Arkane way. This expansion takes place after the events of Prey, and expands the lore and possibilities of what Prey can offer. ♫ You spin me right round, baby ♫
With less than a year since Dishonored 2‘s release, we have a standalone expansion by the name of Death of the Outsider. That alone explains what’s going to happen within. Given that the title doesn’t bear the “2” in the title of it, it’s hard to see where this fits in. Death of the Outsider takes place after the second game, but ties in with events and follows up on things from the original, so a number in the title doesn’t help it or hurt it for that matter. Death of the Outsider serves more of an epilogue to Dishonored 2, by tying up loose ends, and is perhaps the end to the series as we know it.
PREY is a game that didn’t seem to have a whole lot of hype or discussion about. I’ll admit, until the 1 hour demo that Bethesda recently put up, I wasn’t really tracking much excitement either. A few minutes into the demo though and I already knew I had to play this. I promptly stopped and waited for the release of the full game. Now after completing the game with 18 hours under my belt, not only did I walk away extremely happy but I believe PREY is an instant sci-fi classic people will be replaying countless times over the years.
