Drinkbox Studios has brought the hit platformer from the PS3 and PSVita to the PC. And it is quite easily the definitive version to own, play, thoroughly enjoy.

Guacamelee! Gold Edition - review (3)

Looking for our review of the PSN version?

Guacamelee! Gold Edition is a complete package. It takes the original game, and the subsequent DLC packs: El Diablo’s Domain, and The Devil’s Playground (exclusive to this release). El Diablo’s Domain adds a new level and new costumes, while The Devil’s Playground adds an additional, beefy extra couple of hours to the gameplay.

Guacamelee! Gold Edition - review (2)

Guacmelee! Gold Edition is nearly identical in every respect except for the 1080p images and running at 60fps, as well as the aforementioned DLC’s. And you’ll still want to play it with a controller. The keyboard will suffice, but isn’t the way to play.

If you want to learn more about the base game, I suggest you read my original review here on Saving Content.

Guacamelee! Gold Edition - review (5)

Guacamelee! Gold Edition is an exceptional platformer, that boasts clever writing, flavorful artwork, great melee combo system, and upbeat music that breaks the mold of what we know as a “Metroidvania”. It’s a must-own type of game that I can’t recommend more.
