Justin Amirkhani, co-founder of Vagabond Dog addresses GLAAD’s lack of a videogame category

May 09, 2014

Developer and co-creator of Vagabond Dog, of the upcoming game Always Sometimes Monsters has issued an open letter to GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) in regards to the lack of a videogame category in their media awards section. It’s great to see developers reaching out to make a change. Hopefully we can grow and improve as a people, a culture, and at the very least, an industry involving videogames.

This letter can be found just beyond the link below, or directly on Vagabond Dog’s website here: http://vagabonddog.com/glaad.php.

Bound By Flame Review

May 09, 2014

Exploring an unknown world can be incredibly exciting and fantastic. The world of Vertiel in Bound By Flame is no different. Except that the developer by the name of Spiders, only wants you to only get a glimpse of what the world has to offer. You’ll traverse in tight corridors and walkways that would make a contortionist feel cramped. This is only the tip of the iceberg of Bound By Flame‘s problems systemically. It’s an RPG that means well, but falls short in every aspect described as a feature.

Jet Car Stunts Review

May 05, 2014

As far as generic titles go, Jet Car Stunts is as plain as it gets. Though, it is extremely accurate as to what you’ll be doing in the game. Originally released onto iOS in 2009, and has been expanded and updated since, even getting a sequel. The PC version does differ from it’s mobile counterparts in better ways. It allows for improved graphics and actual, controllable movement and accuracy not attainable with touch devices.

Daylight Review

Apr 29, 2014

An easy way to arouse fear in someone, is to disempower them. Take away that which gives them the ability to fight back, and the “fight or flight” response to stressful situations becomes just, flight. Daylight places you into decrepit, run-down, empty levels with nothing but a cellphone with the flashlight turned on. What should be a rollercoaster of emotions is everything but. What we get is a predictable and banal story. For a horror game, the only sounds produced while playing, are audible groans and laughter instead of shrieks in terror.

The Last Federation Review

Apr 25, 2014

Arcen Games have consistently worked to break the mold of genres, or combining genres in unique ways. They haven’t always been successful with every outing, but have something interesting to offer. Each game of theirs has an overarching goal, and how you reach that goal is left up to you. The Last Federation is wildly entertaining as it contains 4X elements, and plays like a turn-based shoot’em up. It’s every bit exciting as it sounds.

FRACT OSC Review

Apr 22, 2014

Discovery can be a rewarding experience. There’s a thrill of finding something by yourself. In the case of FRACT OSC, is an open world begging to be explored and uncover the mysteries that lie within. It is the sound of music that drives this world. It has since become broken down, and enveloped in a deafening silence. And it is up to you to resurrect what once was.

Trials Fusion Review

Apr 18, 2014

“Welcome to the future!”, is what the main title track sings to you upon starting the game. This really sets the tone for the game, from the surprisingly awesome title track (compared to the last few that have been pretty embarrassingly bad) to the bigger and brighter world to play in.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Review

Apr 04, 2014

Reaper of Souls may have taken Blizzard two years to develop and release, but it comes like a bat out of hell to get you straight into the action. This, along with the recent “Loot 2.0” patch that is available to all make Diablo III the game we’ve wanted all along.

Goat Simulator Review

Mar 30, 2014

Coffee Stain Studios became overwhelmed at the positive responses to their trailer for Goat Simulator. It was just a silly thing that was created from a one-month gamejam. So they decided to clean it up and release it commercially. The result is a hilarious spoof on Simulator-type games that lasts the length of a sugar rush.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD Review

Mar 28, 2014

The Belmont’s can never catch a break. Almost every branch of the family tree has someone involved in darkness and fighting of Dracula in some shape or form. And unfortunately, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD is just as cursed. Being ported to PC doesn’t do it any favors amongst its numerous other problems.
