While the holiday season is long-since over, the trees have been disposed of, and Spring has sprung, Dead Rising 4 makes its way to Steam with some extras that’s made its way into the Xbox One and Windows 10 versions. One would expect that the PC version outperforms the Xbox One version, and it very much does. That may be all you need to hear, but let’s dive a bit further into what makes Dead Rising 4 work for me.
Kworld has been fighting the good fight in terms of making an accessible and powerful earphones that are more than just “earbuds”. This Taiwan-based company has made a believer out of me that earphones can be both comfortable and powerful with the sound that they output. The S33’s are comfortable, perhaps a bit too shiny, but deliver excellent audio that will make for an excellent low-profile earwear for gaming, music, travel, and even working out.
WRC 6 is the continuation of the FIA World Rally Championship series that has appeared on PC and consoles over the past few years, and is Kylotonn’s second outing with the license. WRC 5 was a refreshing change of pace, but felt like the team was learning and having to pick up the pieces from the previous developer. WRC 6 is not a bad game, but does pale in comparison to Codemaster’s DiRT Rally. WRC 6 is however, an authentic WRC game that provides a solid experience rising in the rally racing world.
There’s no shortage of things to do in Steep, but there’s also no need to do something you don’t want to. There’s a casual approach that Steep takes, in that you can do anything at any time. It is a relaxing take on the genre. Steep is highly enjoyable whether barreling down a slope dodging trees, just as it is to be para gliding against a craggy mountain-side. Steep is an open-world exploration and competition game full of chill music, crisp air, and cool tricks.
Tenda Technology is back with the AC18, essentially a revision of the AC15 released in 2015. It’s a router that offers more of the same in terms of coverage, performance, and reliability, but features a swath of improvements that has replaced my AC15 entirely. This our third review of a router by Tenda Technology, and it does not disappoint. While the AC18 feels like an incremental upgrade from the AC15, it comes highly recommended if you have neither. This is one of, if not the best AC1900 routers on the market today.
We often look to the stars as a means of exploration beyond our own world. Arachnid Games looks to the great expanse of the sea with Diluvion. And in this, the game is an interesting take on the apocalypse story. There’s people to meet with, trade with, and fight against. However, I found myself fighting with the game itself more than conflicts you’d find therein. Diluvion‘s beauty gets washed away when that problem surfaces, but remains as something you shouldn’t overlook, either.
Agent 47 has completed his first full season in 2016’s self titled game HITMAN. With 6 maps, loads of equipment, a variety of costumes, and many ways to play, HITMAN is filled to the brim with content. I came away amazed by the game and can not recommend it enough to anyone. With the first season pressed onto a disc, I think it’s time I finally gave some of my thoughts on this sneaky assassin’s newest venture.
Sniper Elite 4 is a third-person shooter with first-person sniper aiming that retreads familiar ground for the series, but manages to carve new pathways in terms of new gameplay features to keep things fresh and exciting. Sniper Elite 4 is the 4th entry in the main series, and the 7th game in the Sniper Elite franchise that began in 2005. What makes this series special is the bullet cam, and in the sequels since, is the addition of the x-ray camera to accompany it. You’re shown your precise shot in all its bloody splendor. In that regard, Sniper Elite 4 does not disappoint. And for the most part, Sniper Elite 4 doesn’t manage to disappoint at any stage, but I am a bit concerned for the series going forward, as it’ll be hard to top being the best looking and feeling Sniper Elite yet.
AQUA KITTY UDX: Xbox One Ultra Edition has challenging but simple gameplay, no shortage of modes or ways to play, and is incredibly entertaining no matter how much time you invest in it. This reviews makes for my third of what essentially is the same game, but the Xbox One version is easily the best version of the game to-date. The duo over at Tikipod Ltd. have crafted yet another fine version of the game with a new mode: Dreadnought, that freshens it up enough to warrant another purchase. For new players, the reasons have always been there, but now there are more reasons to purchase the best Aqua Kitty.
I’ve been waiting a long time for a decent Mighty Morphin Power Rangers game. You’d think the property would be ripe for a good beat’em up. 5 heroes (6 if you include Tommy) fighting a bunch of generic bad guys, eventually fighting a bigger more elaborate bad guy, then a grander battle with said bad guy. Doesn’t that sound like every beat’em up ever made? It’s not for a lack of trying though, through many releases on the SNES and Genesis, us 90’s kids got a taste of what a good Power Rangers game could be. Enter 2017 and Bamtang indulges us with a multicolored nostalgia treat. It’s unfortunate that it tastes more like sour candy – not everyone likes it, but those who do will find it enjoyable.
For better or worse, very little has changed with Kirby. He’s a fluffy pink sphere that inhales nearly everything with extreme prejudice. But that paints a darker image than what you know about Kirby. He’s a do-gooder, out to right the wrongs that he comes across. Kirby: Planet Robobot continues that trend for Kirby, and does so in just enough and exciting ways that make this adventure new and perhaps a bit too easy for older players, but is enjoyable all the same.
♫ I’m the man on the Blizzard Mountain ♫ The first expansion for the excellent Forza Horizon 3 is Blizzard Mountain, an expansion that wants you to get out of the heat and into the cold. It is a playground and winter wonderland in the mountains of Australia. It feels distinct from the base game to not feel samey, and is one of the best expansions in Forza history.
I’m not sure exactly how I feel about this game. I like the fact its combat is very Dark Souls-esque. It requires timing and some strategy. But I don’t particularly enjoy losing all my progress upon death. This game walks this weird line where I want to enjoy it but I also want to hate it.
Frank West is back, and Dead Rising 4 is better for it. This is also return to Willamette, Colorado. While the town has changed, the mall has been rebuilt, and Frank West looks and sounds different; the things that haven’t changed is the sense of humor, the self-aware attitude, and the thousands of zombies left to kill. I can see Dead Rising 4 being divisive for some long-time fans, but for me, this was exactly what I needed and wanted out of the series for the longest time – It’s the best gift to be given this holiday season.
I grew up in my younger teen years, playing Final Fantasy. I had dabbled into the genre a bit when I was younger but it was the PlayStation era that really got me into the franchise. These days, everyone seems to have a different preference to what Final Fantasy is the best, or which one resonates with them the most as each one has different story and mechanics. After numerous delays of Final Fantasy Versus and it being changed into FFXV, does it come through being an experience worth the wait? Much like all the other Final Fantasy games, that’s going to be up for debate forever.
