Bee Simulator Review

Nov 25, 2019

I’ve never been one for simulator games. I prefer more arcade like thrills.  This applies for racing games and other genres. So when I heard about Bee Simulator, I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a parody game much like Goat Simulator, or an actual simulator. Truth is, it’s a little bit of both. Bee Simulator is a fun, unique look at teaching players about bee’s while not being a complete bore.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts Review

Nov 21, 2019

The Sniper Ghost Warrior series has been decently received, with Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 being incredibly ambitious that fell short of expectations. CI Games seemingly took that to heart because Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is an improvement in every aspect. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts maintains scale and returns to linearity with a better focus on its strengths. I’m happy to report that Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is the best entry to date, and is poised to give the series new life.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD Review

Nov 21, 2019

There’s something to the phrase “they don’t make ’em like they used to.” It’s a tired, contrived sentiment that’s most often a nostalgic lament. But it can be more layered; it can also be a reflection on the way things have changed, sometimes even for the better, especially when that nostalgia is examined with a closer eye. Nostalgia and reality are often at odds with one another.

PowerA FUSION Pro Wired Controller (for Xbox One) Review

Nov 20, 2019

This PowerA FUSION Pro Wired Controller is impressive as hell. It’s a premium controller that offers everything that Microsoft’s official Elite controller does, but at the cost of being wired. And honestly, that’s not a bad thing. PowerA has a competitively priced and is a feature-for-feature matching to Xbox’s Elite controller (save for being wired), which makes this accessory a necessity for ownership of this premium controller.

PowerA FUSION Wired FightPad (for Xbox One) Review

Nov 20, 2019

The PowerA FUSION Wired Fightpad for Xbox One is a lightweight, simplified controller intended for fighting games. It has some additional uses in other genres, but this is a controller for a specific purpose and not one that’ll become your “daily driver”, unless of course you only play arcade and fighting games. PowerA’s offering here is really well made and is a controller that’s great for gamers of all ages, and hand sizes. It’s the controller you didn’t know you needed.

JUMANJI: The Video Game Review

Nov 19, 2019

The revival of Jumanji has been bittersweet for me. I loved the original movie growing up as a kid. With much apprehension, hearing of a sequel, I wasn’t sure how to take it. Fast forward to how much I enjoyed that sequel and now were getting another entry, it was only a matter of time before an actual video game was released. One based on the new entries which are based on… a video game Jumanji. That would mean a game based on the movie is a perfect fit right?

Ritual: Crown of Thorns Review

Nov 19, 2019

The Wild West and horror are two genre’s I’m extremely into. The idea of the two crossing paths isn’t a new one, but it’s also one we don’t see all too often.  Ritual Crown of Thorns tries to blend the two into a top down action shooter with a lot of challenge. I’d say they succeed overall, but of course like unworldly contract, there is a fine print.

Autonauts Review

Nov 18, 2019

In Autonauts, you don’t start with much to your name. You find a few sticks, locate some stones, and see the pixel trees around you. Over time, you’ll take that gorgeous grassy plane and turn it into an outdoor mess of an automated factory, one where the end goal is to harvest and love from your colonists.

House of Golf Review

Nov 18, 2019

House of Golf is the epitome of what you see is what you get. Developer Atomicom offers a bite-sized game that provides a challenge whether solo, or in hotseat multiplayer. While you can see everything the game has to offer in an hour, there’s so much more to do, unlock, and share with others. House of Golf is a game you’ll be returning to often, thanks to its approachability and replayability.

NASCAR Heat 4 Review

Nov 15, 2019

NASCAR Heat 4 is this series’ most solid title to date but also the one with the most minimal of changes. NASCAR Heat 3 had a good thing going for it, so kudos to the team for keeping Heat 4 so close to what we got in 3. That’s not to say there aren’t some flaws and things I would like to see improved.

Need For Speed Heat Review

Nov 15, 2019

Ghost Games returns with their fourth Need For Speed entry, and it resembles a mix of prior games like Underground, ProStreet, and 2005’s Most Wanted. Now, Need For Speed Heat lays the melodrama of cops vs racers on rather thick, but the dichotomy of day & night is what takes center stage. It feels like the game is running on all cylinders this time, and is such a triumph for the series. Need For Speed Heat is the most exciting racing game of 2019.

Sydney Hunter and the Curse of the Mayan Review

Nov 13, 2019

I love retro games. Love them or hate them though, they’ve paved the way for what has become today’s video games. Often times hard, often times frustratingly cheap in design, we pushed through these experiences back in the 80’s and 90’s. What’s great to see over the last 10 years or so is the revival of these games. Games that try to recreate that feel but in today’s market. Sydney Hunter is one such game and I’m happy to report it brings all the feelings of old school titles along with some great modern convenience.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition Review

Nov 12, 2019

Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings remains the best reviewed Age of Empires game in the series history. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition celebrates the 20th anniversary of its release with a whole host of improvements, an expansion with new civilization, Ultra HD graphics up to 4K resolution, and a complete modernization of the gameplay. This is a “definitive edition” that lives up to the name. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is a game that’s aged like a fine wine.

Unity of Command II Review

Nov 12, 2019

It’s been 7 years since the original Unity of Command came to Steam, and it remains a gem of an indie title. Unity of Command II retains the gem quality its predecessor was, but it’s a more polished and refined. Make no mistake, it’s no easier than the original, but it is exactly what you’d want out of a sequel. This is a game for grognards, and non-grognards alike. Unity of Command II is developed by 2×2 Games in part with Croteam, another Croatian developer to make one of the most rewarding and challenging strategy games once again.

Thief of Thieves: Season One (Switch) Review

Nov 12, 2019

Robert Kirkman is synonymous with The Walking Dead, but his other successes include the Thief of Thieves comic book series. It’s since been made as a video game that’s been released onto other platforms, and now Thief of Thieves: Season One has finally come to the Switch. Unfortunately though, this version will steal your enjoyment of it, thanks in part to its performance and technical issues. Thief of Thieves: Season One is a game worth playing, if you can deal with the problems it has or by avoiding the Switch version entirely.
