Euro Truck Simulator 2: Scandinavia DLC Review

SCS Software has been hard at work for their 2nd major DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, titled Scandinavia. The result of this work fills in the northern part of Europe that has been sorely missing from the core game. It is more appropriate to call this an expansion due to its size and pricing, and Euro Truck Simulator 2 is only enhanced by this addition and is also the most visually distinct and beautiful places to virtually drive through in all of the game.
NOT A HERO Review

NOT A HERO is a game about speed and style, not unlike the developer’s own OlliOlli series. Comparisons to Devolver Digital’s other published title, Hotline Miami if it were a sidescroller wouldn’t be too far off of a comparison to make. NOT A HERO features a funny if not completely unrealistic story to follow, a cast of gun-toting potty-mouthed characters, and gameplay that moves at a frenetic pace. And it’s probably the most realest depiction of politics you’ll ever see in a videogame.
Shovel Knight (XB1 & PS4) Review

You may be looking at the screen shots of this game thinking “Not another indie game using 8-bit art” but dismissing it like that is just hurting yourself. Yacht Club games nailed it with Shovel Knight. Invoking the style of the 2nd and 3rd generation of consoles (NES, SNES, Genesis), Shovel Knight brings you to the simpler yet harder days of gaming where levels were hard and graphics blocky.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Review

“What’s old is new again.” Wolfenstein: The Old Blood comes out not even a full year removed from the fantastic and absolutely surprising Wolfenstein: The New Order, and MachineGames has cranked out a standalone prequel. It is a game that requires no prior knowledge of the events of The New Order to enjoy and get accustomed how it plays. While it didn’t give the same impression that The New Order left me with, but The Old Blood is still an incredibly solid shooter with interesting events making it a worthwhile, albeit short playthrough. It is good to return to Castle Wolfenstein.
Chroma Squad Review

Ever since the debut of “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers” in 1993, it has been a cultural phenomenon, with the series still in production today. Surprisingly, there hasn’t been a Power Rangers game on a platform outside of the Nintendo 3DS in recent years. Behold Games somewhat fills in that gap with Chroma Squad, a tactical RPG with managerial elements that makes for a very entertaining game, if not a bit light on nearly every aspect of playing the game.
Project CARS Review

Before the days of Kickstarter, Slightly Mad Studios ran their own crowd-funding campaign for a racing game with the working title Project CARS. The “CARS” in the title actually stands for Community Assisted Racing Simulator. Turns out the name stuck and the working title became the actual title. This project has manifested into an actual game you can play, a game in which you drive real cars on real tracks for the sport of racing, not for the money and the fame. Project CARS is a simulation racer that’s synonymous with the word “hardcore”, an accurate way to describe its authenticity, even if that means it will prevent many from playing it due to its difficult tendencies.
Sky Force Anniversary Review

A little background for those unfamiliar, it’s been just over 10 years since the original Sky Force was released on PocketPC and early mobile platforms. Infinite Dreams then released Sky Force 2014 on iOS as a re-imagining of that original game. I’ve been waiting for Sky Force 2014 to come to PC, but it is, in the form of Sky Force Anniversary. I’m happy to report that Sky Force Anniversary is one of the finest ports to PC, period.
ROCCAT Kave XTD 5.1 Analog Review

ROCCAT’s penchant for making high-quality PC peripherals, whether it be audio, keyboards, or mice, there’s great care that gets put into the products they create. And that passion shows, especially when I was using the Kave XTD Analog 5.1 for this review, one of the finest sounding headsets I’ve heard in a long time.
Gratuitous Space Battles 2 Review

Gratuitous Space Battles 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the 2009 original. There’s a lot of customization, and involves a unique strategy to the gameplay. It does unfortunately have issues, some of them fixed from a recent patch, others that continue to cause problems. That said, GSB2 is still a solid game, and there’s nothing quite like it.
MX vs ATV Unleashed Review

“What’s old is new again”, or so they say. With the release of MX vs ATV Unleashed on Steam last week, it seemingly feels like it’s 2006 again. This release sees the light of day thanks to new publisher, Nordic Games taking over for the defunct THQ. This re-published game, appearing on Steam for the very first time gives a glimpse back in time with a world where games were easy to play, fun, and full of crazy ideas.
Grand Theft Auto V (PC) Review

We’re only a few months removed from our review of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One review of Grand Theft Auto V. It seems strange to wonder how the PC version could be any better. But it should come as a little surprise that it does even surpass current-gen systems. It is the definitive experience to have on any system.
Mortal Kombat X Review

After I played a bunch of 2011’s Mortal Kombat 9, I had wondered where NetherRealm Studios could go next. Mortal Kombat 9 had successfully used through the beloved characters and story from the original trilogy as the base for that game, so it was hard to see where they could go given that the games after the original trilogy were not as well received.
Westerado: Double Barreled Review

With a name like Ostrich Banditos, you’d suspect the developers of this wild west-inspired game were in America, but rather surprisingly, they are Dutch. Westerado: Double Barreled pays a solid homage to Spaghetti Westerns and other games of its ilk, while still maintaining a level of humor throughout its writing and interactions. It is a game that demands very little, but rewards you greatly.
Razer Kraken Gaming Headset for Xbox One Review

The Razer Kraken headset for the Xbox One is a comfortable headset with great sound quality. You could use more expensive headsets, pay twice as much, and get the same results as the straightforward Kraken.
Pillars of Eternity Review

Pillars of Eternity is not Baldur’s Gate, Planescape Torment, or Icewind Dale. It is an amalgamation of all of those games, in a unique blend that provides a deep experience in a whole new universe with only tinges of familiarity to be a standout among its those that came before it. Pillars of Eternity is an wonderful and fantastic RPG that will have you enthralled from beginning to end, however you get there across the dozens upon dozens of hours.
