Party Hard 2 Review

Oct 25, 2018

Party Hard from Pinokl and tinyBuild was released three years ago, and it’s a game I loved and continue to sing its praises thanks to its unconventional approach towards stealth and design. Even with a sequel, there’s no partnership with Andrew W.K. still. Though, Party Hard 2‘s motto would be most definitely be “Ready to Die”, as there’s a higher body count this time around, and is a bit more difficult towards you as you try to kill the party. Party Hard 2 might as well have a subtitle of “Party Harder”, because this game is bigger, bolder, and deadlier than its predecessor.

Spintires: MudRunner – American Wilds Expansion Review

Oct 23, 2018

Spintires: MudRunner – American Wilds is an expansion that finally brings the simulation of mud and driving game to the United States, but the locations that come with it aren’t that distinguishable from it’s Eurasian / Northern Asia locales found in the base game. It does however, open the door for new possibilities and extending on the core idea. The addition of recognizable vehicles by American manufacturers provide something familiar, but fails to do anything exciting with what’s fresh here.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Review

Oct 19, 2018

Treyarch comes back in a big way with the most successful and revered series of Call of Duty games, Black Ops. With Black Ops IIII, it’s a return to form after the mess that Black Ops III was. Treyarch fixes a lot of what went wrong over the previous entry, and Black Ops 4 feels like many steps in the right direction that future Call of Duty games will have a hard time following. It may not have a campaign this year, but Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a one-stop shop for multiplayer gaming. It’s got battle royale, traditional multiplayer, and co-op horde modes, making it a killer triple threat.

Project Warlock Review

Oct 18, 2018

Imagine growing up in the 90s where games like Doom, Hexen, and Wolfenstein introduced the world to the first-person shooter landscape, but you were too young to remember it? Well, that’s where Jakub Cislo of Buckshot Software comes in. Project Warlock is a recollection of those early 90s games for him, in style and art, but with modern lighting, effects, and conveniences. The result is a proper first-person shooter befitting the genre so well, even incorporating RPG elements. Project Warlock captures the nostalgia but without the pain of trying to get an old game to run properly.

Mark of the Ninja: Remastered Review

Oct 16, 2018

Mark of the Ninja: Remastered is the same game content-wise, now including the post-release DLC as a single package. But that’s not all. What makes this a remaster is the improvements visually and aurally, which make it the definitive version to own. It has been 6 years and 1 month after its original release, and the 2D stealth of Mark of the Ninja is just as good now as it was then. Mark of the Ninja: Remastered is an improvement in every aspect, and even earning the achievements again are absolutely worth the replay – this is a masterwork by Klei Entertainment.

Forsaken Remastered Review

Oct 12, 2018

Thinking back to PC gaming in the late 90s conjures up a flurry of memories filled with low-poly models, gratuitous use of colored lighting, and a heavy emphasis on extreme everything from speed to attitude, explosions to bigger explosions. In many ways, PC games at that time were a near-perfect distillation everything that media and marketing of the era were pushing on audiences; only 90s kids will truly remember the feeling of literally everything being IN YOUR FACE all the time, and that’s probably for the best; nobody else should have to carry that with them.

American Truck Simulator – Oregon Review

Oct 10, 2018

The third DLC is now out for American Truck Simulator, where you can expand your trucking business up into the Pacific Northwest of Oregon. American Truck Simulator has grown considerably since launch, with the first DLC, Arizona being free. The second DLC which started the paid expansion was New Mexico. Now, is Oregon worth the expansion? The answer is unequivocally yes. This is easily the most unique and varied locations in all of American Truck Simulator currently.

V-Rally 4 Review

Oct 04, 2018

The V-Rally series sees a return after a sixteen year absence with V-Rally 4. WRC 6 and 7 developer Kylotonn (KT Racing) is behind the wheel, and crashes it on turn one. There’s an odd charm to V-Rally 4, but you’ll have to dig deep to find it. V-Rally 4 falls so short below the bar of acceptable. I don’t know how this shipped in this way, or let alone became a topic for resurrection. V-Rally 4 is a poor imitation of other games that have come before, and is of unusual low quality for KT Racing.

Forza Horizon 4 Review

Sep 28, 2018

Playground Games have quite possibly made the best racing game of all-time in Forza Horizon 4. With Forza Horizon 4, it merges its online and offline worlds into one, making it feature rich, and seemingly endless amounts of things to do with friends and strangers alike. Prior entries have paved the way for this game is an evolution for the series, and racing games as a whole. Forza Horizon 4 is everything you’d want out of a racing game. It is an incredibly social game, constantly evolving, and so fun you’ll be smiling ear to ear with each activity you play. You simply won’t find anything better than what’s in Forza Horizon 4.

Salt and Sanctuary (Switch) Review

Sep 26, 2018

Salt and Sanctuary was released back in 2016 and was reviewed by yours truly here at Saving Content. Back then I enjoyed my time with the game on PS4 and gave it a solid 4 out of 5. There isn’t much to say about the Nintendo Switch port, it’s just a straight port. There is no new content for those who would like to play this game on Switch. The bonus here is that you can play on the go. I do recall the game being released for the PlayStation Vita as well, but with the Switch’s larger screen and the ability to dock in front of a TV, this would be my choice for on-the-go Salt and Sanctuary. Especially with the smooth 60fps the game runs at; I haven’t run into any hiccups in my playthrough.

Macally XKEYLED Backlit Full Size USB Mac Keyboard Review

Sep 21, 2018

In a category with a nearly infinite number of options available, finding the right productivity-focused keyboard can be difficult. Of course, the more specific your needs, the easier time you’ll have narrowing down your choices. If you happen to be on the hunt for a Mac-specific keyboard, scope of your decision-making instantly shrinks to a much more manageable size, and you can sometimes have the opposite problem of not having enough distinct choices to consider. Enter the Macally XKEYLED, a keyboard specifically designed for use with macOS, sporting a sleek design and an impressive feature set over many competing keyboards, and at a respectable price.

The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep Review

Sep 18, 2018

The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep is the return of a series that’s been dormant for exactly thirty years. After a successful Kickstarter, The Bard’s Tale makes one hell of a comeback. inXile Entertainment has given The Bard’s Tale IV a look and feel of the classic RPG and adventure games that you remember, but modernized for today. With nearly 40 hours of gameplay, The Bard’s Tale IV is sure to keep you glued to your chair for every minute of it with its unique yet familiar mechanics. This is not to be missed.

NHL 19 Review In Progress

Sep 17, 2018

I enjoyed NHL 18 and was looking for NHL 19 to bring back online leagues, add more depth to the Be a Pro and Franchise modes along the lines of story lines, fake social media, etc. Instead, the focus, at least from the marketing side this year is on gameplay tweaks and World of Chel.

Frozen Synapse 2 Review

Sep 13, 2018

Mode 7 is back with Frozen Synapse 2, a sequel two years in the making, and seven years demanded by the community. The original game was a throwback to classic tactics games that stripped away all the noise. Frozen Synapse 2 looks simplistic, but it’s color-coded gameplay bathed in neon and wire-frame gives all the visual information you need to make tough decisions in and out of combat. Commanding squads of clones to keep the city from self-destructing is spinning plates while riding a unicycle that has a flat tire. Frozen Synapse 2 is a well-executed game that improves on everything over the original, and is always satisfying when a plan comes together – and even when it doesn’t.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review

Sep 10, 2018

Tomb Raider has advanced since its reboot in 2013, and we’ve seen a tougher, and grittier Lara Croft as a result. Deus Ex developer, Eidos-Montreal takes over for this important, and crucial entry. With Eidos-Montreal at the helm, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is nothing short of amazing. As each hour passes, the gameplay and systems work well together to provide a cohesive experience. The entire game is a thrill ride from open to close. While this is the end of Lara’s origin story arc, what’s been occurring during this trilogy is something that will empower her for entries to come. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a refinement of prior games, now perfected.
